A:A member of the public who is not subject to any bankruptcy proceedings can apply to the Official Receiver for issue of a “Certificate of Non-Bankruptcy”.
A:Certificate of Non-Bankruptcy would only be issued to a person who has not been made bankrupt. As a discharged bankrupt, you may consider applying to High Court for a Certificate of Discharge. A:You can visit GovHK to submit your online application to the Official Receiver’s Office (“ORO”). “iAM Smart” is required for the electronic submission of your application.
A:The application fees are HKD$270. In the said fees, HK$80 is charged for bankruptcy record check, which will not be refunded regardless of whether any bankruptcy proceedings record against the applicant is found. If there is bankruptcy proceedings record against the applicant, the certificate of non-bankruptcy will not be issued and the remaining fees of HK$190 paid will be refunded.
A:You can use PPS, credit card (VISA, MasterCard, JCB or UnionPay) or FPS to settle your payment online.
A:You will be notified by e-mail whether your submission is successful. You may check the status of your application through our online service after successful submission of your application. Please make sure that you are reachable at the email address and local telephone number provided.
A:Under normal circumstances, you should receive email notification on the result of your application from ORO within 2 working days from the date you submit your application. A link to access our system for downloading the “Certificate of Non-Bankruptcy” will be provided in ORO’s email notification once the application is approved.
A:Authentication of identity is conducted via “iAM Smart” so that the Official Receiver’s Office could provide one stop online service for application of “Certificate of Non-Bankruptcy”.
A:In case you do not have “iAM Smart”, you could submit your application to ORO by post or in person.

For application made by post, payment of fees can be made by cheque payable to “The Government of the HKSAR”.

For application made in person, payment of fees can be made by cash, cheque, Octopus or Faster Payment System at the Shroff of ORO.
