Search on Bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) & Compulsory Winding-up records

Arrangement for Online Search Service starting from July 2018

Official Receiver’s Office provides online search service on bankruptcy, individual voluntary arrangement and compulsory winding-up records, which enables users to ascertain whether:-

(a) A person is bankrupt or is facing a bankruptcy petition.
(b) A person is or has been subject to an individual voluntary arrangement.
(c) A company is wound-up or is facing a compulsory winding-up petition.

The search service includes:-

(a) Individual Search for Bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangement and Compulsory Winding-up Records

(b) Batch Search for Compulsory Winding-up Records

Application for the search service can be made online via internet. Online search facility is available at counter area on 10th Floor, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong. For details of the online search service, please visit the website at GovHK.

Bankruptcy, IVA and Compulsory Winding-up Search

How To Do It

  1. Visit GovHK
  2. Select the required service (i.e. Bankruptcy, IVA and Compulsory Winding-up Records - Individual Search).
  3. Select either 'Bankruptcy Search' 'IVA Search' Bankruptcy and IVA Search' or 'Compulsory Winding-up Search'.
  4. Enter the search criteria (i.e. name of person, HKIC No., name of company or trading name of business) into the input fields. A maximum of 5 search requests can be made in each submission. Click 'Next Step' when finished.
  5. Enter your personal information and click 'Continue'.
  6. Click 'Confirm' if the data you have entered are correct or click 'Amend' if you want to make changes.
  7. Please read and confirm that you accept relevant statement(s) before proceeding to search.
  8. Choose your means of payment by selecting PPS, VISA, MasterCard, JCB, UnionPay or FPS.
  9. (a) Enter your account number and password if you pay via PPS;
    (b) Enter your credit card number and expiry date if you pay via VISA, MasterCard, JCB or UnionPay; or
    (c) If you pay via FPS, open your bank mobile application to scan or upload the QR Code displayed on the screen, and then follow the instruction on your bank mobile application to complete the payment.
  10. Click 'View Search Report' to see the search report. You can print out the report if a hard copy is required.

Fees

The fee is HK$80 for one bankruptcy/bankruptcy and individual voluntary arrangement search/compulsory winding-up search request.

Batch Compulsory Winding-up Search

How To Do It

  1. Visit GovHK
  2. Select the required service (i.e. Compulsory Winding-up Records - Batch Search).
  3. Download the spreadsheet template and follow the instructions contained therein to complete your search requests. Click 'Start Application Now' when completed. (A maximum of 100 search requests can be included in each spreadsheet. You may reuse the spreadsheet templates downloaded. If you do so, previous search requests should be erased before you submit new search requests. Otherwise all new and old search requests will be processed and charged accordingly.)
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to upload the spreadsheets. Only one compulsory winding-up spreadsheet can be uploaded in each submission.
  5. Enter your name and email address. Then click 'Continue'.
  6. Click 'Confirm' if the name, email address and the details in the spreadsheets to be submitted are correct or click 'Amend' if you want to make changes.
  7. Choose the means of payment by selecting PPS, VISA, MasterCard, JCB, UnionPay or FPS.
  8. (a) Enter your account number and password if you pay via PPS;
    (b) Enter your credit card number and expiry date if you pay via VISA, MasterCard, JCB or UnionPay; or
    (c) If you pay via FPS, open your bank mobile application to scan or upload the QR Code displayed on the screen, and then follow the instruction on your bank mobile application to complete the payment.
  9. A notification will be sent to you by email once the search reports are ready for downloading.
